Millennium Celebrations on
Sydney Harbour

The Waterways Authority takes pleasure in releasing the following information to assist commercial operators and masters of accredited charter vessels, and all other boat owners intending to operate, or be on Sydney Harbour in conjunction with the New Years Eve (NYE 2000) celebrations:

The Entertainment on Sydney Harbour New Years Eve 2000

There will be a number of activities on the Harbour to entertain the thousands of shoreside and waterborne spectators. Commencing at 9.00pm 31 December 1999 and concluding on 00:30am

1 January 2000, the show will include parades of brightly decorated barges and vessels, and culminating with very large fireworks displays at midnight from four barges located at the sites indicated on the chart. These fireworks displays are of equal intensity and duration and synchronised to provide a single display over a large area of the Harbour.

The main fireworks will be at midnight.

Fireworks displays will take place within Cockle Bay (Darling Harbour) at 9.00pm and at 11.55pm; however, as the Darling Harbour Authority controls this display no vessels will be allowed to enter Cockle Bay without evidence of approval from the Darling Harbour Authority.
